Which Carrier furnace line is right for your home?

Carrier sells three lines: Comfort, Performance and Infinity. What separates them is how finely the furnace can adjust its output, how quietly it runs, and how high the efficiency goes.
Comfort: the entry line
The entry line. The lowest upfront price, and the usual choice when the priority is a dependable replacement rather than the highest possible efficiency — a rental property, a home you plan to sell, or a furnace that failed in the middle of winter.
Performance: the middle line
The middle line. More efficiency and quieter running than Comfort, without the modulating control of the Infinity line. This is where most homeowners land when they want a long-term furnace at a sensible price.
Infinity: the top line
The top line. Carrier’s Infinity 98 (model 59MN7) reaches up to 98.5 per cent AFUE with a modulating gas valve and a variable-speed ECM blower, adjusting output in one per cent steps between 40 and 100 per cent capacity. Running longer at lower speeds gives steadier room temperatures and quieter operation than a furnace that blasts on and off. It carries a 10-year parts limited warranty and a lifetime heat-exchanger limited warranty with registration. The honest trade-off is price: it sits at the higher end of the market, and the modulating technology only fully pays off if you plan to stay in the home long enough to bank the savings.

What a Factory Authorized Dealer means for you
It is a status Carrier grants and reviews, not a label a contractor prints. Day to day it means our technicians are trained on this equipment, we stock the parts, and warranty work goes through us rather than a third party. That is the practical reason a Carrier breakdown in February usually gets solved on the first visit.
Brand matters. Sizing and the install matter more.
Correct sizing by load calculation and a clean installation affect efficiency, comfort and lifespan more than the brand on the cabinet. An oversized furnace short-cycles, wears its parts early and still leaves cold rooms; undersized or leaking ductwork throttles even the best equipment. This is the one factor no brand can sell you, and it is where a TSSA-certified installer earns their keep.
