What we install, and what actually helps
Short answer: the air cleaning equipment we install is Carrier — the Infinity air purifier and the Carrier air cleaner range — together with Aprilaire indoor air quality equipment. HEPA is not a brand; it is a filter standard, and it is worth understanding before you buy anything.

A whole-home purifier that sits in the ductwork and treats the air as the system moves it, rather than cleaning one room at a time the way a portable unit does.

The wider Carrier range of media and electronic air cleaners, sized to the ductwork and the blower rather than to the room.
HEPA: a standard, not a brand
A true HEPA filter captures at least 99.97 per cent of particles at 0.3 microns. The catch in a house is airflow. A filter that dense creates resistance, so it has to be matched to a blower that can push through it — fitting one into a system that cannot handle it starves the furnace of air and costs you more than it gains. That is a sizing question, and it is why this gets checked before it gets sold.
Equipment is the third step, not the first
The measures the health agencies actually name for indoor air quality are ventilation, humidity control between 30 and 50 per cent relative humidity, filter replacement on schedule, and fixing moisture problems immediately. Air cleaning equipment helps on top of those; it does not replace them. If a company tells you a duct cleaning or a purifier will fix allergies, that claim is not supported by either Health Canada or the United States Environmental Protection Agency — our guide on whether air duct cleaning is worth it in Ontario goes through what the agencies do and do not say.
Humidity is usually the real complaint
Most calls that arrive as “the air quality is bad” are really about moisture: a house that feels clammy in August, or dry enough to crack furniture in January. Both are controllable.
